To use RDP to remotely access a Virtual Private Server (VPS), you will need to follow these steps:
- Ensure that the VPS has Remote Desktop enabled: Depending on the operating system of the VPS, you may need to enable Remote Desktop manually. For example, in Windows Server, you can enable Remote Desktop through the "System Properties" settings.
- Obtain the VPS's IP address: You will need the IP address of the VPS in order to connect to it. You can find the IP address of your VPS in the control panel of the hosting provider.
- Install RDP client software on your local device: You will need a RDP client software installed on your local device in order to connect to the VPS. Windows and MacOS have built-in RDP client software. For other platforms, you can use third-party RDP clients like FreeRDP or rdesktop.
- Connect to the VPS using the RDP client: Open your RDP client software and enter the IP address of the VPS. You will also be prompted to enter the username and password of a user that has permission to remotely access the VPS.
- Once you are logged in, you will be able to interact with the VPS as if you were physically sitting in front of it, using the keyboard, mouse, and display of your device.
